An exciting and thrilling tour through the beautiful green valleys of Kashmir to the high altitude desert of Ladakh. A perfect tour to experience the Greater Himalayas in all their might. As you go further higher into the mountains towards Leh you will see the geographic change in the landscape around as the vegetation keeps on reducing and ultimately leaving behind just the high altitude cold desert. This safari offers you an opportunity to explore one the oldest Buddhist monasteries of the Himalayas. Along with this you will get to see the everyday lifestyle of the Himalayan villages which is culturally diverse as per region. The charming local villagers would be the icing on the cake of the whole Himalayan experience. The massive silent mountains, the deep ravines, the ever gushing rivers, huge calm lakes and the cheerful local folk of the villages would give you a Himalayan experience which would imprint these mountains and cultures forever on your life.

Day to Day Atractions

Day 1

Arrive Srinagar

Arrive at Srinagar Airport. You will be picked by your driver at the airport itself and transferred to your houseboat for check-in. In the afternoon you take a shikara ride on Dal Lake, where you visit the floating vegetable gardens and the open Dal Lake. A shikara ride gives you ample opportunity for bird watching. The vicinity of Dal Lake is home to multiple birds like Kingfisher, Little Bittern, Common Pariah Kites, Grebe, etc. Your Dinner and overnight stay would be in the houseboat.

Day 2

Srinagar (Local Sightseeing)

After an early breakfast we embark on a morning tour of Shankaracharya Temple. The temple is believed to have housed the great philosopher and saint Shankaracharya when he visited Kashmir to revive Sanatan Dharma ten centuries ago. After this we visit Hazratbak Mosque which is located on the western shore of Dal Lake. After visiting the forementioned places we drive back to the houseboat. Post lunch we take a tour of Mughal gardens including Nishat Bagh (The garden of pleasure) and bShalimar Bagh (Abode of love). After the visit we drive back to the hotel/houseboat. Dinner and overnight stay at hotel/houseboat.

Day 3

Srinagar(Excursion TO Gulmarg)

After breakfast we leave houseboat/hotel and embark on a full day excursion trip to Gulmarg or also known as “Meadow of Flowers”. Main attractions of Gulmarg apart from the stunning landcapes around are the highest 18 hole golf course of the world and the Gondola Ride to higher meadows. Return back to Srinagar for dinner and overnight in hotel/houseboat.

Day 4

Srinagar-Kargil (Via Sonmarg)

After breakfast we drive to Kargil via Sonmarg. This route is one the most beautiful drive from Srinagar. Pony rides at Sonmarg can be taken at your own cost to Thajiwas Glacier wher snow is present round the year. On arrival at Kargil we check-in at our hotel for overnight stay.

Day 5

Srinagar-Kargil (Via Sonmarg)

Post breakfast we drive to Leh visiting Lamayuru en route. Then we reach cross river Indus to reach Alchi, Ladakhs most loved monastery. Futher we drive to Likir Gompa situated on cliff overlooking the Village Likir and the confluence of Indus and Zanskar. Further we drive towards magnetic hills where vehicles defy the laws of gravity. Upon arrival in Leh you will be met by our representative. Check-in at our hotel for overnight stay

Day 6

Leh–Nubra Valley (Via Khardung La)

Post breakfast we drive to Nubra Valley. The road journey from Leh to Nubra Valley passes over Khardung La (The Highest Motorable Road In The World) at 5,602. Nubra has the densest population of snow leopard in Himalayas. The drive from Khardung La to village Khardung offers views of beautiful countryside. Nubra Valley popularly known as Ldumra or the valley of flowers. Located in the north of Ladakh between the Karakoram and Ladakh ranges of the Himalayas. Upon arrival in Nubra we check in at our camp/hotel in Hunder for overnight stay. The evening is free to explore around the small villages and their culture and lifestyle. A visit to a Ladakhi home can be arranged. Overnight Stay at the camp/hotel.

Day 7

Nubra Valley-Leh

After an early breakfast we check out from the Camp and drive to Hunder where you have opportunity to ride on a bacterian camel (double humped) amidst the sand dunes of this high altitude desert with snow capped mountains on the horizon. Between Hunder and Diskit you come across sand dunes besides the road. Seen in isolation you could well be amongst the sand dunes of the Thar Desert in Rajasthan. Further we stop at Diskit which is the headquarter town of Nubra Valley. Stroll around the bazaar observing the shops and local people going about their daily chores. Diskit is famous for 515 years old Buddhist Monastery, lying magnificently situated on a hilltop, facing the entire Valley. Later we drive back to Leh in the late afternoon via Khardungla Top. On arrival at Leh you will check-in to your hotel. In the afternoon you can rest and relax.

Day 8

Leh-Pangong Lake

After an early breakfast we leave for Pangong Lake enroute visiting Shey Palace. Shey is situated on a hillock about 15 kms upstream from Leh. It was once the residence of the royal family. It was the seat of power of pre-Tibetan kings. 7.5 metre high copper statue of Buddha plated with gold and the largest of its kind is installed here. Driving further for 5 Kms through the picturesque landscape we reach Thiksey. It is the most beautiful monastery of Ladakh. Situated to the north of Indus river, was reconstructed in 1430 AD. The monastery contains a huge collection of various valuable artifacts and ancient relics of Tibetan heritage. After visiting above two monasteries we drive further towards Changla Pass. A bried stop at the Changla Pass for a quick photograph session. Then we drive down to the village of Tangtse, where you can relax for a cup of tea. Leaving Tangtse for Pangong you pass through few small villages of Changthang and finally we can have the spectacular beauty that Pangong Lake is suddenly looking back at us with all its adoring calmness. The impression that Pangong lake will leave on you wull be hard to let go all your life. Upon arrival we check-in at our camp near Pangong lake. Dinner and overnight at the camp.

Day 9

Pangong Lake-Leh

Morning at ease to explore the beauty of lake. Some might want to see it at sunrise. Later we drive back to leh enroute visiting Hemis Gompa. On reaching Leh we check-in at our hotel for overnight stay.

Day 10

Depart Leh
